Oxford University offer 3 to 5 day introduction/advanced courses for Optical Microscopy and Electron Microscopy, as well as training courses on topics such as MatLab, data handling, statistics, structural biology, comparative genomics, NMR and ethics. These courses are free and open to all Oxford University Medical Science post-graduates, DPhil students and research staff. In addition Oxford University Computer Services (OUCS) offer a comprehensive IT Learning Programme of courses, e.g using Adobe DreamWeaver, Adobe Indesign and, perhaps most usefully for microscope users, Adobe Photoshop (listed under 'Digital Images'). Other IT courses include ones on Java programming, creating an on-line exibition, and digitising a film collection. OUCS charge a nominal fee for Oxford University students and staff, about £10, to attend these courses.

There are also free courses run by Oxford University's Health and Safety Department and there's the Staff Development seminars offered by the Oxford Learning Institute.
