Research summary
I am currently working on modifying and using RNASeq next generation sequencing technologies to investigate viral genetic diversity in a cohort of HIV-2 infected individuals from Caio, Guinea-Bissau. I am interested in the way in which novel sequencing methods can be used to probe viral quasi-species in patients and whether the distribution of variants within these viral populations can shed light on differing viral control and ultimately divergent clinical outcomes.
Previously I worked as a Research Assistant looking at circadian rhythms in Drosophila and for my MSc I looked at the distribution of intergenic repeats in the genome of V. cholerae.
