Hong Harper

Senior Software Developer

I have been responsible for data management for the DIL group since 2017. I lead software and database development projects to support the scientific needs of the group’s researchers. This has included a Lab Information Management System and other bespoke applications which interact with various research datasets.

Prior to joining the DIL, I worked for the Unit of Health-care Epidemiology in Big Data Institution, University of Oxford where I led the development of large scale databases containing the English national hospitalisation and death records.

My academic background is in computer science and web technology. I am familiar with various programming languages (Java, C#, Python, PHP), databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and web technologies (CSS, JavaScript, HTML, etc.)
