I have been a member of DIL since May 2017. I support Irina Stefana in looking at the potential role of tau protein in pancreatic beta cell failure in T1D.
In January 2015 I joined Prof Terence Rabbitts’ group at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford. As a member of the team developing compounds that inhibit protein-protein interactions between RAS oncogene and its downstream targets, my work was focused on testing the efficacy of the compounds in cell-based assays. I studied gene technology in Estonia prior to pursuing a PhD in biochemistry, which I received in July 2014 from the University of Tuebingen, Germany. During my PhD I developed an mRNA affinity purification method that enables the analysis of mRNA-associated proteome of specific mRNA transcripts in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
