Alistair Miles

Informatics team

Alistair Miles is the Head of Epidemiological Informatics for the Kwiatkowski group.

He is involved in the design and development of information systems to support data-sharing networks for large-scale research projects such as MalariaGEN and WWARN, with a particular focus on clinical/epidemiological data.

Alistair joined the Kwiatkowski group in June 2009. Prior to that, Alistair lead research & and development work at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford, applying new Web standards for sharing and linking data to the domain of Drosophila functional genomics. Before joining the University of Oxford, Alistair was a research scientist at the e-Science Centre at the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council, where he was involved in a range of computing research projects, primarily in the areas of Web and semantic technology, and also in the engineering of production software systems. Alistair has played a leading role in the development of new standards for the Web, through participation in the World Wide Web Consortium's Semantic Web Activity. He holds an MA in Natural Sciences and an MSc in Web Technologies.
