Agata Juszczak

Research overview

Agata graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland; where she also took part in  research investigating in vivo pancreatic islet transplants in an experimental model. She has completed most of her clinical postgraduate training in the UK and is a final year specialist registrar in Endocrinology & Diabetes on the Oxford rotation.  Currently Agata is taking time out of the rotation to focus on research.

Agata was recently (April 2014) awarded a Diabetes UK Sir George Alberti  clinical training fellowship which supports her research on the investigation of the value of plasma biomarkers for identifying cases of Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) due to HNF1A mutations, which remains her main research interest. She is also interested in the management of different types of monogenic diabetes and investigation of HNF1A variants as potential susceptibility alleles for type 2 diabetes.
