Work Experience Programme

The Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics offers a one-week work experience programme, which takes place over the Oxfordshire summer holidays, usually in August. Applications for the programme open in late-February, with an April deadline for applications.

This page will change to reflect the upcoming years deadlines and dates, once they are known.

Students must be over 16 to take part in the programme, and will be fully supervised at all times.

Applicants will need to provide a CV, and a supporting statement of no more than 500 words.

westudentsStudents will get the opportunity to extract DNA from saliva samples, use the polymerase chain reaction to amplify this DNA, and perform restriction digestions of the PCR products. There will also be an opportunity to meet lab leaders from throughout the centre, and find out more about the research going on at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.
