Nick Groves-KirkbyD. Phil. Genomic Medicine and StatisticsI am currently a student in the above progam at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford, UK. I have returned to scientific research after a 4-year spell as an Editor at the Nature Reviews journals, and a Masters degree exploring the development, transmission and communication of scientific ideas (officially the History of Science, Medicine and Technology). I originally trained as a biologist specialising in disease and animal biology, and in quantitative methods. My overall aim is to understand the complex workings of the human genome, through investigating its role in health and disease. To do this I combine a range of statistical and bioinformatic techniques with traditional wet-lab work. I am also interested in how our increasing body of knowledge on the human genome can best be communicated outside the research community: to policy makers, health care providers and the general public. My site is currently under construction, so please ignore any quirks of formatting. More information and some snazzier images will follow shortly. In the meantime, please feel free to browse and contact me if you have any questions. |
