IainI am a D.Phil student supervised by Cecilia Lindgren and Gil McVean. Currently, I am working at the WTCHG on statistical and population genetics, particularly with application to disease association studies. My background is in statistics and statistical modelling. Rare variant correlation

You can find a full list of my publications here.

The sort of things I'm working on at the moment are:

Spatial Structure

I am looking at fine scale population structure, related to spatial distribution. In particular that related to rare variants, which may not be captured by genome-wide measures of relatedness. Association Testing

Selection

Many traits in humans are thought to be under selective pressures which are spatially varying. However, the patterns which this kind of selection leaves on the genome are invariably confounded with population structure. I am developing methods to jointly infer selection and structure from different kinds of genetic data.

Variant Calling

Andy Rimmer, Gerton Lunter, and I are developing and implementing algorithms for calling variation in next generation sequence data, particularly indels and complex variants which are not well served by current callers.
