Asthma Genetics |
|
Asthma is the most common disease of childhood, affecting one child in seven. Most children with asthma are also atopic (allergic). Both atopy and asthma run strongly in families and have a genetic basis. The asthma genetics group are using a number of strategies to find these genes. Then identification will lead to a better understanding of asthma, new methods of classification of the disease, and new means of prevention and treatment. |

Our mission is to advance the understanding of genetically-related conditions through multi-disciplinary research.
The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics is a research institute of the University of Oxford, funded by the University, the Wellcome Trust and numerous other sponsors. Our objective is to undertake research into the genetic basis of common conditions.
