Genetic Linkage Maps of the Rat Genome (1997)

Linkage Maps

The linkage map of the rat genome produced at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics integrates 767 simple sequence length polymorphism (SSLP) markers including 233 microsatellites identified in gene sequences. F2 populations from WKYxS (n=159), BNxS (n=91) and BNxGK (n=139) were selected for high rates of polymorphism and genotyped for combinations of microsatellites developped in our laboratory (Wox) and microsatellites previously published (Mit, Mgh, Smu, Mco...)

1 Clickable INTEGRATED genetic linkage map of the rat genome of 3 different rat pedigrees
We report the construction of a dense linkage map of the rat genome combined over three F2 crosses (WKYxS, BNxS and BNxGK). The map spans a genetic length of 1998 cM. The average spacing between anchor loci is about 4.7 cM. Combined maps constructed with JoinMap version 2.0 (Stam 1995; Stam et al. 1995) and GMS (Lathrop and Lalouel 1984). Further confirmation for the maps was obtained with the Multimap program (Matise et al. 1994).
2 Genetic linkage map of the rat genome established on 3 different rat pedigrees (F2 populations of WKYxS, BNxS and BNxGK)
Maps were constructed with JoinMap version 2.0 (Stam 1995; Stam et al. 1995) program separately for the 3 crosses to identify double recombination events. The final maps were created using GMS (Lathrop and Lalouel 1984).
3 Polymorphism (%) table
The table shows likely overall heterogeneïty of a cross between any two of 24 different inbred strains of rat.
