The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics offers a one-week work experience programme, which takes place over the Oxfordshire summer holidays - from Monday the 21st of August til Friday the 25th. We are now accepting applications for the 2017 programme - the deadline for applications is Friday the 28th of April

Students must be over 16 to take part in the programme, and will be fully supervised at all times.

Applicants will need to provide a CV, and a supporting statement of no more than 500 words, to brian.mackenwells@well.ox.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday the 28th of April

WEStudents

Students will get the opportunity to extract DNA from saliva samples, use the polymerase chain reaction to amplify this DNA, and perform restriction digestions of the PCR products. There will also be an opportunity to meet lab leaders from throughout the centre, and find out more about the research going on at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.

Students from previous years of the programme have blogged about their experiences on the Newbury Group pages
