Valentín Ruano-Rubio is a senior software engineer in the informatics team.  He is currently working on development of the NGS Anopheles genome variation re-sequencing and analysis pipeline. He also is the lead developer of supporting web applications for sample management in Sanger and co-developer of the data exploration web application ExplorerCat.

Valentín completed a degree in Computer Science at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona (2000). After working in industry for a few years he came back to academia completing a PhD in Evolutionary Bionformatics at University of Dublin Trinity College Ireland (2008). He was a postodoctoral at IGBMC Strasbourg France, before joining the Kwiatkowski group.
