The WTCHG community
It is all too easy for a busy researcher to remain unaware of what goes on outside his or her own lab. The Centre holds an annual Awayday at a venue away from the Headington campus, where all Centre members are welcome to hear talks about research within and beyone WTCHG. An active group of PhD students and post-docs organises its own programme of activities, to ensure that staff build academic and social contacts across the Centre. A series of career development talks explore the possibilities of a life beyond academic research, while there are also pub outings and musical evenings. 2013 also saw the first two-day Post-Docs' Retreat, designed to foster collaboration with a mix of research talks, team-building exercises and informal chats in the bar.
The cultural, social and sporting opportunities on offer to all members of Oxford University are second to none.
