Researchers at the Division of Structural Biology within the Wellcome Trust Centre have determined the structure of an enzyme that regulates the degradation of genetic signals exiting the nucleus. Related enzymes in humans are strongly implicated in the degradation of genetic messages that protect cells against cancer. The atomic snapshots obtained of the enzyme's structure open new possibilities in rational anti-cancer drug design.
