Richard Pearson

Bioinformatics team

Richard joined the group in April 2012 as a Principal Bioinformatician. He is based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford, but also travels regularly to the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, he works closely with members of the Kwiatkowski group at both sites. Richard is involved in setting up and evaluating variant calling pipelines for malaria parasites and vectors. Richard is also interested in population genetics analyses of these data.

Richard has a PhD in bioinformatics from the University of Manchester. Prior to joining the group Richard worked with Peter Donnelly on the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium CNV project, and with Mark McCarthy on the GoT2D project.
