Research Projects - Flint Group
1. Introduction
We are focusing in particular on the origins of stress-related conditions, such as anxiety and depression. These disorders currently have relatively ineffective treatments; they are common, disabling and can be difficult to treat. We have been working on the genetic basis of susceptibility to anxiety and depression for over a decade. Recent scientific advances are making it increasingly possible to analyse the role that specific genes play in psychiatric disorders.
2. Research
The CONVERGE study of major depression
Mouse genome sequencing (in collaboration with Dave Adams' group at the Sanger Institute)
High resolution mapping with heterogeneous stock mice
Genetic mapping using commercially available outbreds
Functional genomics in the rat
