Joseph completed his Hons. B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Guelph. He went on to complete an M.Sc. in Molecular Evolution from the same institution. He then spent 5 years in the Psychiatric Neurogenetics Section of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto working on the genetics of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and coordinating the Section's tissue culture team and curating the DNA collection. In 2004, Joseph moved to England to take a position at the NERC Centre for Population Biology at Imperial College, and in 2006 joined the Genomics section at the WTCHG. Joseph is experienced with the Illumina and Sequenom technologies and works within the Array Facility.
