Arrays Technologies

Arrays Technologies at Oxford Genomics Centre

We offer a range of applications based on Illumina's BeadArray technology and Sequenom's MassArray system. We are able to support small scale through to high-throughput studies. Typical studies include Genome Wide Association studies and follow up validation work. In addition, we are able to offer allele specific genotyping, methylation assay and gene expression analysis.

DNA

Arrays

Low to Mid-range SNP genotyping
  • Low range based on Sequenom's iPlex MassExtend chemistry.
  • Pools of up to 40 assays can be custom designed in-house.
  • Prevalidated Sequenom panels available: OncoCarta, MelaCarta, Sample ID...
  • 384-well plate format for processing (minimum batch size 96 samples).
  • Assay QC testing on CEPH DNA’s included for project with Human samples.
  • Ideal for fine mapping, Allele specific genotyping, GWAS and validation studies.
  • Mid-Range based on Illumina GoldenGate technology for 96 up to 3,072 validated SNPs or customised assay (minimum 480 samples).

Large-scale SNP genotyping and Whole Genome genotyping

  • Infinium whole-Genome Genotyping assay is designed for large number of SNPs.
  • Pre-validated chips for whole genome genotyping with high density coverage up to 5 Million SNPs.
  • I-Select Custom design for targeted genotyping from 3,000 to 5 million SNPs (minimum 1152 samples).

Methylation

  • Quantitative measurement of methylation at individual CpG islands.
  • Sequenom Epityper - pre-validated or custom assays, 600bp amplicons.
  • Illumina Infinium Methylation Assay - highest resolution - new Human Methylation 450K high density array which covers over 450,000 sites including all refseq genes, promoters, 5' and 3' region and miRNAs.

Gene Regulation

Whole-Genome DASL Assay

  •  Sequenom QGE - ideally suited to validation studies.
  • Sequenom Allele Specific Expression Analysis - low to medium throughput.
  • 384-well plate format for processing (minimum batch size 96 samples)
  • Illumina Direct Hybridization - gene-specific probes are used to detect labelled RNAs.
  • Used for genome wide expression analyses in Human and Mice.
