Obesity and Cardiovascular Health Award 2011

WTCHG researcher Dr Cecilia Lindgren has been awarded the Obesity and Cardiovascular Health Award 2011, presented by the Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO), the UK's foremost charitable organisation dedicated to the understanding and treatment of obesity.

Dr Lindgren's received her award from the Board of Trustees at this year's ASO conference, where she also presented a short summary of her work on waist-hip ratio, a common clinical measure of central adiposity and fat distribution, of particular interest in diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.  Obesity and its consequences are major and growing challenges for health care worldwide, and Dr Lindgen's research hopes to resolve the crucial underlying biological processes of fat distribution as well as related metabolic disturbances and cardiovascular disease.
