I have a background in Biological Sciences and I am a Wellcome Trust Genomic Medicine and Statistics student supervised by Anna Gloyn and Mark McCarthy. I am interested in combining computational and wet lab biology. The main focus of my thesis is the role of novel genetic (copy number variants) and epigenetic mechanisms (methylation and chromatin modifications) in the development of Type 2 diabetes. I am currently working on the following projects:
- Identifying coding copy number variants using large-scale exome array data
- Characterising the DNA methylation landscape of human pancreatic islets
- Exploring the variability in open chromatin regions of human pancreatic islets using ATAC-seq
