Research
My current research involves the implementation of several high throughput technologies to identify the genetic and epigenetic factors implicated in multiple sclerosis. I am particularly interested in understanding how differences in expression between MS patients and healthy controls translate to disease mechanisms and if environmental influences can affect such differences in expression. Therefore, as well as collecting a variety of relevant tissues from MS patients, I am in the process of using several model systems for functional studies. My other related work includes cell surface protein and allele specific expression within the major histocompatibility complex as well as miRNAs.
