Research summary
My principle research interest is understanding the genetic architecture of type 2 diabetes. Much of this is based around large-scale genomics projects (GWAS and sequencing), identifying predisposing genetic variation in type 2 diabetes patients. I am also interested in understanding the genetic basis of various reproductive endocrine traits, including menopause, menarche and circulating sex hormones. Many of these intermediate endocrine traits are likely to be causally involved in disease processes, and I am involved in a number of genetic epidemiology studies testing these relationships.
In addition to my post here in Oxford, I hold academic positions at Peninsula Medical School (University of Exeter) and the Department of Twins Research, Kings College London
