Hani obtained his BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from King Abdulaziz University, KSA in 2006. He was then appointed Teaching Assistant in the Biochemistry Department in same institute and awarded a fully-funded scholarship for his postgraduate studies. He received an MSc with Distinction in Molecular Medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2009, where he worked on the epigenetic regulation of microRNA expression in bladder cancer.
Hani joined the Genomics Research Group in January 2010 as a DPhil Clinical Medicine student. He is interested in using high throughput next generation sequencing, such as RNA-seq, to investigate cancer stem cells transcriptome in breast cancer. His project aims to understand insight genetics of the breast cancer stem cell in primary breast cancer and cancer cell lines under hypoxic conditions based on transcriptome and epi-genome wide expression. He is also involved in developing directional next generation sequencing and single cell technology for transcriptome analysis. Hani is jointly supervised by Dr Ioannis Ragoussis (Head, Genomic Research Group) and Prof. Adrian Harris (Head, Department of Medical Oncology- John Radcliffe Hospital).
