Ana has a Degree in Biology (Licenciatura- BSc) from the Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto (Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, Portugal). She worked for a year as a research assistant at the Institute of Pathology and Molecular Immunology of University of Porto (IPATIMUP, Portugal) before starting her Ph.D. at University College London on genetic susceptibility to gastric diseases with Prof Dallas Swallow. She subsequently got a placement as a DNA data bank manager with the Medical research Council and in 2007 joined Cancer research UK as a postdoctoral researcher working in colorectal cancer with Prof Ian Tomlinson. Ana joined the Genomics group in March 2009 and is currently working in the profiling of transcription factor binding sites applying high throughput platforms to the study of Protein-DNA interactions.
