Christina Hubbart joined the Kwiatkowski group in August 2008 as Genotyping Manager.

She is a member of the DNA handling team that is responsible for archiving and determining the quality of the thousands of DNA samples received from MalariaGEN partner institutions around the world. Her role is to carry out the QC genotyping of the DNA samples after their archiving and to assist in setting up and running Sequenom multiplex genotyping assays.

Christina gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Molecular Genetics in Biotechnology at Sussex University and went on to work at University College London as a research assistant in the department of Cardiovascular Genetics, where she assisted in many genotyping/mutation screening projects. Her main focus was on an inherited disease called Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and to screen for the many FH causing mutations in the LDL receptor and PCSK9 genes. During her time there she also completed a part-time MSc course in Medical Molecular Biology.
