Boat race victory for WTCHG students

Two graduate students from the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics were among the victorious BNY Mellon Boat Race crew that defeated Cambridge by 11 lengths in 18min 36 secs on Sunday 6 April. Malcolm Howard, who is the current President of Oxford University Boat Club, and a Canadian Olympic gold (2008) and silver (2012) medallist, was in the no. 5 seat. Karl Hudspith sat at no.3. Both men also shared in victory in the 2013 Boat Race, when Karl held the Presidency of OUBC.

Both men are undertaking research on translational applications of next-generation sequencing as part of the genomic medicine theme, based in the Centre under Dr Jenny Taylor, of the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.
